What is a PRMS skid?

The critical link between your gas supply and your generators

A Pressure Regulating and Metering Station — PRMS — is a pre-assembled, skid-mounted gas infrastructure unit that sits between your high-pressure natural gas pipeline and your on-site generators, turbines, or process equipment.

Its job is precise and non-negotiable: reduce incoming pipeline pressure to the exact level your equipment requires, filter the gas to protect downstream components, measure consumption accurately, and shut off supply automatically if anything deviates from safe operating limits.

For data centres and power-critical facilities, the PRMS skid is what makes on-site gas generation viable — and it arrives factory-tested, ready to connect, not field-assembled from loose components.

Key Components

Inlet filter / Separtor

  • Removes solid particles and entrained liquids before the gas enters the regulation train. Protects regulators and flowmeters from contamination and wear — critical for pipeline gas that may carry construction debris, scale, or moisture.

Safety shut-off valve (ESD / SSV)

  • Automatically closes on overpressure, underpressure, or leak signal. Fail-safe, spring-return closure within 2 seconds as standard. The primary protection layer for your downstream equipment and site personnel.

Active pressure regulator and monitor regulator

  • The active regulator continuously reduces high inlet pressure to the exact operating level required by your generators or process. The monitor regulator is an independent backup — if the working regulator fails or drifts, the monitor activates instantly. No interruption, no manual intervention required.

Precision flowmeter

  • Turbine, ultrasonic, or rotary displacement types — with electronic volume correctors for temperature and pressure compensation. Accurate consumption data for billing, load management, and energy reporting across your facility.

PLC control panel with SCADA integration

  • From simple local indication to full PLC automation with Modbus RTU and TCP, 4–20 mA, and digital I/O outputs. Integrates natively with data centre BMS, SCADA, and remote monitoring platforms. Alarm management, automated emergency shutdown, and full data logging included.

HIPPS — High Integrity Pressure Protection System

  • SIL-2 or SIL-3 rated overpressure protection using a 2-out-of-3 voted transmitter architecture with dual fast-acting hydraulic cut-off valves. Available where downstream equipment, occupancy, or regulatory requirements demand the highest level of process safety assurance.

Built for operations where downtime is not an option

1

Factory-built. Site-ready.

Every Eyona PRMS skid is fully assembled, pressure-tested, and function-verified at our facility before it leaves. You connect the inlet, the outlet, and the controls — and you commission. No on-site fabrication risk, no surprises on day one

2

Redundancy that never sleeps

Multi-stream configurations with active and standby regulation trains mean your gas supply is never dependent on a single point of failure. Schedule maintenance on one stream without interrupting fuel supply to your generators or process.

3

Sized for your peak demand, not your average

Every skid is engineered to your maximum flow rate — with a built-in margin for load transients. A skid undersized for peak load causes outlet pressure drop events at exactly the moment you can least afford them. We size it correctly from day one.

4

Deploy in months, not years

A factory-built PRMS skid can be designed, manufactured, tested, and installed in a fraction of the time required for a grid connection or field-built gas system. For data centre operators facing multi-year grid queues, this is the fastest path to reliable power.

5

Natural gas and LPG — one engineering supplier

Eyona engineers skids for both fuels. Natural gas for pipeline-connected sites. LPG for off-grid, remote, and emerging-market installations. The engineering differences are significant — LPG is heavier than air, which changes ventilation, drainage, and hazardous area classification entirely. We handle both fuels correctly.

6

SCADA-ready. BMS-compatible

Real-time pressure, flow, temperature, and alarm signals transmitted directly to your building management or SCADA system. Remote monitoring, automated alert escalation, and emergency shutdown logic — configured to your site and operational standards.

Where Eyona Gas PRMS skids are deployed

Data centres — primary and standby power

Grid connection timelines now stretch three to seven years in many markets. On-site natural gas generation fed by an Eyona PRMS skid gives data centre operators a direct, controllable fuel supply deployable in 18 to 24 months.

Whether feeding a gas turbine fleet for primary power or a bank of gen-sets for N+1 standby, Eyona sizes the regulation and metering system for continuous 24/7 operation — with a redundant stream that keeps gas flowing through any maintenance window.

Industrial process — continuous supply

Manufacturing, chemical processing, food and beverage, and glass production all require gas at tightly controlled pressure, continuously. A pressure excursion upstream should never reach a burner, furnace, or reactor.

Eyona builds active and monitor regulator configurations with slam-shut protection into every industrial skid, so upstream pressure events are absorbed before they affect your process — with full SCADA integration for real-time visibility.

Power generation — peakers and CHP

Gas turbines and combined heat and power plants need stable, correctly pressured fuel across the full load range — from idle to peak. Pressure drop at high load is not a specification issue; it is a generation event with real commercial cost.

Eyona PRMS skids are sized for peak generator demand with a flow margin, and the pressure regulation train is tuned to maintain outlet stability as load swings through the operating cycle.

LPG off-grid — where pipelines do not reach

Natural gas pipelines do not reach every site. For remote industrial facilities, island communities, mining operations, and markets where gas distribution is underdeveloped, LPG from bulk storage is the practical fuel of choice.

Eyona LPG skids are built with the design differences that LPG demands — heavier-than-air venting strategy, appropriate seal and gasket materials, liquid-phase inlet consideration, and full hazardous area classification for propane or butane environments.
