MC - 1*
SQ - Series Pumps (CO₂)
The SQ-Series is Smith's small capacity pump specifically engineered for continuous duty applications. Unlike the MC-1 and GC-1 which are designed for intermittent duty, the SQ-Series features a larger mechanical seal that provides longer wear life — making it the correct choice for test chambers, recirculation systems, and dispensing applications that run continuously.
SQ - Series
SQ-Series — Flow rates 4 - 27 Kg/PM (7 to 50 LPM) at 1800 RPM
Designed specifically for continuous duty recirculation. Mounts directly to the motor face with feet — no base required. Foot mount also available. No lubrication or greasing ever required.

MC-1 AND GC-1 (CO₂)
MC-1 and GC-1 Series — heavy duty, lowest long-run cost
The MC-1 and GC-1 are Smith's recommended small capacity pumps for applications where heavy duty performance and lowest long-run cost are the priority. Both models mount directly to the motor with feet — no base required. Both can be rotated upside down to accommodate pipework inlet and outlet requirements.
MC - 1 / GC -1
MC-1 and GC-1 Series — Flow rates 6 to 10 Kg/PM (9 to 19 LPM) at 1800 RPM
Strongly recommended as having the lowest long-run cost where heavy duty and maximum performance are required. Direct motor mount, foot mount available, reversible orientation.

KEY FEATURES — ALL SMALL CAPACITY PUMPS
What makes Smith CO₂ small capacity pumps the specification choice.
Oil-free operation — essential for CO2 purity
Every Smith pump in the small capacity range is lubricated by the liquid CO2 itself. There is no oil in the pump — which eliminates the risk of oil contamination in food-grade, beverage, and medical CO2 cylinder filling applications. For any application where CO2 purity is non-negotiable, Smith is the only correct pump.
The Superseal mechanical shaft seal
Every Smith pump ships with a patented, preassembled, pre-tested mechanical shaft seal. No lubrication is ever required. The unique three-piece seal design allows the intermediary seal ring to see only half the wear of a conventional two-piece seal. The SUPERSEAL option replaces brittle carbon graphite with a self-repairing thermoplastic intermediary seal ring that continually laps itself while the pump is in operation.
The old mechanical seal can be removed in the field in a matter of minutes. No disassembly of the pump required.
Balanced load configuration
Smith's three-gear positive displacement design uses a balanced load configuration — the drive gear is exposed to a neutral load, eliminating the need for a second ball bearing and a second mechanical seal. This minimises gear tooth contact, eliminates constant casing contact, allows smooth non-pulsating flow, and enables higher differential pressures than competing two-gear designs.
Gear set is readily accessible
Without disrupting the mechanical seal, the gear set can be easily replaced in the field. For operations that need to minimise downtime, this means faster maintenance and a lower total cost of ownership over the life of the pump.
